I grew up in Astoria, Queens, NY in the 80's and since I was first turned onto freestyle music I just fell in love with it. To this day, I still listen to it, I've exposed my kids to it, and I hunt for it wherever I can find it.
As most music enthusiasts I have tried to find lyrics for many of these songs. Anyone ever trying to find lyrics for freestyle songs (excluding the more popular ones) would agree that finding these lyrics can be very tough. Over the years I have built a small collection of a few hundred songs. My collection is not massive but wherever I go, I cannot find a site with as many lyrics as I have collected over the years.
I have started a web site called freestylelyrics.org which I work on as I have time. I know their are tons of lyrics sites out there and my only concern with my site is the possibility of violating copyright laws. If someone has a problem with me posting their lyrics I can take them off of course. I've considered contacting various artists but that requires more time than I have and it's just not possible.
I have worked on freestylelyrics.org for about 4 years but only recently released it to the net. I have tweaked it hundreds of time all along trying to cater to HOW the end user would want to search for these lyrics.
There are some great freestyle sites out there that do have freestyle lyrics such as www.maximumfreestyle.com and www.freestyledivas.com (works with IE only) but like many lyrics sites you'll find songs that have mistakes. I have taken it a step further by attempting to correct any lyrics I have come across by doing whatever I could to verify the lyrics. I personally listen and verify the lyrics myself (assuming I have the song of course).
